You should be able to add (under open standard cameras) Generic RTSP as the vendor, see below:
1) in ViconNet choose a camera that you are able to communicate with via IP (check first) , then choose "Add Other Vendor Camera"
2) choose Generic RTSP under vendor
3) provide a name for the camera
4) Enter an ip in the IP field (this can actually be a bogus IP such as 1.1.1.1 so long as the RTSP.ini file matches this!)
5) port number if needed change to 554 etc.
6) type the username only if required. if all seems ok but you are unable to connect, try adding the username and password in this field
Under the "C:\ViconNet\VnData\Settings\Config" folder add a new file called "GenericRTSP.ini" make sure that the extension is '.ini'
on the newly created GenericRTSP.ini file add a new entry similar to the example below (make sure to omit the instruction comments):
[1.1.1.1] <---- This IP needs to match what was set up in ViconNet under the camera's IP field.
URI=RTSP://192.168.2.100:554/Stream1 <-- This is where we specify the RTSP URL, the string is placed after the URI= portion
Save the file and restart ViconNet, this will allow ViconNet to read the changes made in the file.
note: the rtsp string will be like you would enter it in odm or vlc, it is different for each camera and each stream. if it works in vlc it should work in viconnet.
The section: [1.1.1.1] has no meaning for the ip you could have put [123.145.167.189] the importance is the RTSP string in the URI= field.
for example there is a trick we can use to add a multi-stream device. You can make a file that looks like this:
[1.1.1.1]
URI=RTSP://192.168.2.100:554/Stream1
[1.1.1.2]
URI=RTSP://192.168.2.100:554/Stream2
In ViconNet you would create a new camera for each stream! Each stream in the device is handled as if it was an independent camera.
Note that each RTSP camera will consume 1 third party license (each stream in this case)
Important note! The User Name for the camera in the 3rd party is case sensitive when adding into ViconNet
Add Each Camera in Viconet with the Fake IP You created it.
So Camera 1 would be 1.1.1.1
Camera 2 would be 1.1.1.2
Think of this INI File as its own Software Virtual internal Router/Switch.
