Please review this information. Any one or combination of these issues can cause this symptom: ViconNet - message - "displaying the camera cannot be performed at this time"
QUESTION:
When trying to see cameras on my workstation with ViconNet I get a message
" displaying the camera cannot be performed at this time ".
NOTE: Also under powered video card display issues may be seen as system slow down slow video performance; Or displaying multiple cameras or higher quality the system slows down or ViconNet locks up.
ANSWER:
Video driver and video card is the main issue on display problems. The message is common to issues with video.
Some things to investigate, check and correct.
>The user must be logged into Windows as a full administrator.
>Always use the latest video drivers from the video card manufacturer. Drivers from Windows will not provide the full video card functions to display.
>Check "Hardware Acceleration".
To get there bring up Display Properties (Control Panel or right click the desktop then properties) >Settings>Advanced>Troubleshooting tab>Hardware acceleration should be set to full.
>Some other problems that can contribute to video issues:
System RAM is used in a Shared memory with on-board video creating a Low memory condition for the video.
Typical memory configurations on machines are 256mb, 512mb, 1gb, etc...
In one scenario, System properties reported 504mb. This is not "rounded binary". It can be assumed the machine has 512mb and 8mb was being reserved for video memory. 504 + 8 = 512. When we disabled all the junk in Device manager (there were extra "devices" installed in "Display adapters") we got back the memory we needed.
>Disable and shut down Net Meeting or any other remote desktop sharing program or other remote access programs.
Avoid any custom video / multiple desktops / 2nd monitor setup on the video. These all steal ram for video processing.
> Logme-in settings:
Logmein's default settings is actually disabling the DirectX features
needed to display video in ViconNet. I'm sending to you here a screenshot. When you add a new site to Logmein, you have to go to the Properties of that
connection and go to Properties->Preferences->General and uncheck the "Disable wallpaper and user interface effects on host computer" and "Use display adapter"
checkboxes under "Remote Control -> Performance"
Note that remote desktop and other alike tools may not be capable of supporting the necessary resolution to display video. If in question go to the local machines desktop and try calling up cameras there.
Also make sure direct X 8.0 or higher is in the system.
The latest version is 9.0c.
Run DXDiag from Run. Click on "Display" tab,
Make sure under..
