Anavio Camera Firmware Update Scenarios
This article explains how firmware updates are managed for Anavio cameras in two common scenarios: when Vicon initiates a system-wide update and when a customer provisions a new camera.
1. Vicon-Initiated Firmware Update
When Vicon releases a new firmware version, updates can be scheduled to run automatically across all online Anavio cameras.
Process:
- At the scheduled time, all cameras currently online will download and install the latest firmware.
- Cameras that are offline during the scheduled update will not be updated immediately.
- Once an offline camera reconnects to the network, it automatically checks for the latest firmware and updates itself to the current version.
Key Benefit:
This ensures all deployed cameras remain consistent and up to date without requiring manual intervention.
2. Customer-Provisioned Cameras
When a customer adds (provisions) a new Anavio camera to the system, the firmware is automatically checked during the provisioning process.
Process:
- If the camera is running an outdated firmware version, it will automatically detect and download the latest release.
- The update completes before the camera becomes fully operational on the network.
Key Benefit:
Newly added cameras are always aligned with the latest firmware, maintaining compatibility and security across the system.
Notes
- Camera firmware update time can vary from 5 –15 minutes and require sufficient download bandwidth.
